New to halifax 7 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi my name is Sarah, I have 2 girls 3&2. I have moved to Halifax from Ontario just a couple of weeks ago, I love it here, I am hoping to find some play groups for us, so we can get out and meet people.

You welcomed me, so I'll welcome you too!

What brought you to Halifax?
As a fellow Ontarion (?) have you experienced any big differences in moving from one province to another? Have you dealt with changing over cards and licenses and things of the like?

I was looking into kindergarten for DS and was told that it's not called "kindergarten" in NS, but "primary"....that made my search for info much easier!

Hi Sarah, welcome to HRM Parent and to Halifax! Where abouts do you live? There are playgroups listed in the activity calendar - also the indoor playgrounds (Aplaydia, Treehouse and On the Grow) are good places for meeting people. Any questions, just let us know!

Welcome Sarah! Great name, LOL (that's my name too) We just moved here (well, OK, it's been about 8 months now), also from Ontario! Where did you move from? And whereabouts are you living now?

Hi Sarah! We will be moving to Halifax in the spring from Georgetown, Ontario and we are currently looking for a house in the Halifax area (not decided on which community) as we are putting our son in the french school in Bedford, so we are leaning towards Hammonds Plains. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free!! My son is 5 yrs old and my daughter is 5 months old. We are originally from NB, but moved to Montreal 8 years ago, then Georgetown for 2 years, now off to NS all because of my husband's work. But at least now we're closer to all of our family who are still in NB!

Re:New to halifax 5 Months ago
I'm guessing this is a military move? we moved from Ontario a few years ago now - currently living in Hammonds Plains - I have a little guy he's 8 1/2 months old - we'd love to meet other moms and babes for playdates. I find a lot of people in Halifax already have their little cliques or close friends and it's hard to make new friends.
If anyone's interested in meeting up let me know
jacquie

HI Jacquie! Actually it is not a military move. My husband has been getting transfers for work. We were looking to move to Hammonds Plains, but ended up chosing Halifax/Bedford to be close to the french school. Have you found meeting places to bring little ones yet? I have a 7 month old daughter and my son is 6yrs old. I've kind of noticed the little cliques as well, but hopefully it won't be too difficult making new friends!
