Family Expo**This giveaway is now closed. **

Family Expo 2009 is almost here, so clear your schedule for two days of fun, interactive learning, entertainment and great prizes - all under one roof!

On May 29th and 30th, Exhibition Park is the place you want to be for the only expo of its kind in Atlantic Canada - a place where we will be joining dozens of amazing businesses and local service providers as an Expo Exhibitor. Please come visit HRM Parent at our booth - we'd love to meet you! To encourage you a bit, we have 20 tickets to the Expo to give away! To enter, please read on...

The theme of this year's event is 'Social Responsibility,' which is all about incorporating the kind of educational fun that everyone in the family can enjoy! Highlights include:

  • A keynote address by Ron Clark - a former Disney Teacher of the Year and Oprah's starring Matthew Perry
  • A Hannah Montana look-alike contest for a chance to see The Jonas Brothers in concert in New York City
  • A chance to win an INCREDIBLE family vacation - a trip for four to Beaches Resort in Jamaica or Turks and Caicos with Sesame Street Friends, or a trip for four to Frankfurt Germany
  • Meet and greets with CBC Kid's Bo on the Go, Lunar Jim & Huckle Cat
  • An exciting lineup of entertainment featuring award-winning R&B artist Jordan Croucher, Mister J the Magician; interactive games, and the ever-popular Princess Pavilion, where girls can enjoy a full princess treatment in support of the Children's Wish Foundation

The fun happens Friday, May 29th, from 5-9pm, and Saturday, May 30, from 10am-7pm.

For the full list of events and exhibitors, please visit Expo's website here and for ticket information, go here.

Hope to see you there!

**This giveaway is now closed.** And for your chance to win a free ticket, please email charmaine@hrmparent.ca with your mailing address. The first 20 emails get them! One winner per family please. If you have a preference for Friday or Saturday, please include it in your email but I can't guarantee it. :)

Hi Sarah - I just checked, and Dinky Town is a play area for kids with cars and one of those town/road carpets and some toys - there isn't actually anything set up. So if you were coming just for that I wouldn't bother. There is lots going on though, lots of fun! smilies/smiley.gif

Hi Sarah - I just assumed Dinky Town was for playing in - that would be so annoying for kids if they could only look! I'll check for you today when I'm there and post back! smilies/grin.gif

I think my son's still too young for most everything else, but we'd go just for the Dinky Town. Do you know if the kids are allowed to play in the Dinky Town? My son would LOVE it, but not if it's just for looking at.

Hi Sarah

I know that most exhibitors try really hard to make their booths fun for kids and adults - yes, we do want to tell you about ourselves, but it's not all about selling you stuff (HRM Parent is a free service, for example) and there's a lot of useful information to be found from exhibitors. Along with the fun booths (we will have a "rocket ship" for kids to play in!), there's heaps of free entertainment - magic shows, Dinky Town, music, contests, Kids CBC characters, etc. You can see the program here for more info:

That all said, it's not for everyone, of course. I usually get fairly cranky at things like this, heh. smilies/grin.gif Hopefully I won't get cranky this year!

I'm not sure that I "get" the point of the Expo. It kinda seems like we'd be paying to see a bunch of advertising for all the exhibitors.
