Research studies looking for parents

Posted by Admin_Mom in Research studiesCommunity spotlight and news

The Mothering Study aims "to learn more about the impact of intimate partner violence (IPV) on children’s development and the relationships between mothers and their children. This information will be used to develop specific programs to support the health and development of mothers and children affected by IPV."

They are looking for "mothers who were in a violent relationship while their child was an infant, who are no longer in a violent relationship, and whose child, who was an infant during that violent relationship, is still under the age of three."

A confidential interview is conducted with the mom, a series of assessment measures are completed and a short videotape of mother and child interaction comprise the interview. A small honorarium is paid to the mother for her time and child care is provided. For more information, contact Nancy Mahoney at nancy.mahoney@dal.ca.

You and your child could attend a research play party at On the Grow!

An IWK research project will be looking at termperment and children's play behaviours. They are looking for children between the ages of 12 & 36 months and a parent to take part, by filling in two brief questionnaire and participating in a free "play party" at On the Grow in Bayers Lake (February 3 and 17, 2:30-4:30pm).

To find out more, please contact Kate Kalousek on 470-7706.
